Basic Information;
Character's Full Name: Ariadne Jaynie Laroque
Nicknames: Ari, Aria, Dia, Doctor ‘Aya’ to some of the children
Age && Birthday: Thirty-One // March 1st, 1977
Occupation: Doctor Trainee :: Pediatirican
Appearance;
Ariadne has a rather unique appearance when first presented to the eyes. The first thing most people tend to notice is her fashion sense, but once past that the canvas opens up to an Greek girl who has a beauty she often ignores. Let's start from the top shall we? First off, Ariadne tends to look years younger than she really is, but don't be fooled, she is thirty one. It truly depends on what she's wearing or, rather, how she is acting. Ariadne has a rather oval shaped face in which a pair of extremely dark blue, almost grey, eyes stares out at people from. The eyes, almond in shape and dark in coloring are surrounded by flocks of eyelashes, sometimes making her eyes appear larger than they really are; not to mention the eyeliner which certainly makes her eyes seem larger. Her hair is a rather attractive shockingly natural color of platinum wear sunglasses blonde, as some might describe it, which was quite dark when she was born but it lightened drastically over the years, a trait inherited from her grandmother on her mother’s side. As for the length of it, it ranges between shoulder and mid-back length often not much longer. In her younger years, she had a tenancy to let her hair to grow past her butt though not any more since it was such a pain to maintain.
Ariadne is undeniably short, or 'abnormally un-tall' as she'd like to say. Standing at 5’1 she tends to reach about shoulder height or higher to her peers around her. At times it can annoy her as she sometimes gets teased about it and she often has to ask for help reaching for things; though, truth be told, she loves it because it gives her the chance to wear heels rather often. Her skin has a rather healthy light tan, and she is happy to say that it is in fact natural and not like the rest of the world's 'spray on kind'. She tends to keep her nails manicured in the French tipped style. When unmanicured, she tends to bite her nails rather horribly despite her efforts to not do that.
When you think about it, Ariadne has a rather eccentric sense of fashion. Never the one to fall into step with the current style, the little Greek has always been the one to 'refashion' her looks whenever she felt like it; this usually includes her hair color but it's most obvious form and appearance is her clothing sense. If she likes it, she buys it and she will also wear it; though her style does tend to hover around the gothic style of clothing. Now, that's not to say she goes out of the house looking like a fashion nightmare, or a disaster for that matter, rather that her outfits are never the same and always vary yet there is always some familiar small item in her outfit at the time. A lot of her clothes are rather simple but the way she arranges and wears them tends to give her a look the definitely stands out. To be quite honest, she really doesn’t care what other people think of what she wears, though she does value the opinion of people she cares about. Still, she’ll wear her clothes proudly and rather unabashedly.
Personality;
•BLUNT
Ariadne is blunt. Very, very blunt. She will speak her mind and she will absolutely refuse to sugarcoat the truth, and it may either humor or annoy you, depending on your view of the situation. Suuure, it's annoying at times but to be perfectly honest, the end result is a good thing. Of course, it comes in handy if she doesn't like you because she'll say so right to your face and then it can be out in the open and you two can go about hating each other for eternity. Though, a lot of people have commented that it isn't exactly a good thing, since it earns her a lot of enemies for not saying positive things or sugar coating things to break news to people in a sweet, not mean way. Her only rebuttal is that she isn't mean; she just lacks the ability to lie as most people do. So go ahead! Ask her what she thinks of your blouse, but I hope you're prepared to hear one of two things, you look amazing, or you look like shit.
•CYNICAL
When it comes to love...she prefers not to be bothered with it believing that it is entirely overrated. Perhaps it's her past experience with her parents messy divorce or perhaps it’s just the stories she’s heard about the guy who screwed the girl over, literally, and then left her to rot. Truthfully, she's personally never had a breakup that really caused her skeptical and cynical view to be thrust upon something so happy and hopeful, so what it could be is something entirely unknown. Some might attribute it to the fact that Ariadne just doesn't believe that men find much more interesting past the physical; apparently it's entirely hormones and some malfunction in the brain that makes them believe they have a chance at anything further. Well, that’s her opinion anyway.
•INDEPENDENTLY STUBBORN
She is also fiercely independent and a slight bit feminist, possibly due to the fact that she was raised an only child her entire life and is used to doing things on her own. However, when it comes her own needs and feelings, Ariadne has a difficult time expressing herself because she is so determined to stand by herself and she doesn't like asking for help so when something in her life goes awry -although it's generally easy to tell by the changes in her mood- she doesn't tell anyone. She prefers to handle things on her own, even if it causes her a lot of stress. Ariadne just really hates depending on other people for help and support, typically as she is often the support; which honestly is what she truly needs at times though she'd like to believe that she can stand on her own two feet alone.
•HYPER PEPPY
Ariadne seems to have a personality trait that makes no sense in relation to the rest of her personality. At times she will cast off the cynical attitude she has and adopts a rather childlike kind of persona. Hyper, peppy, completely random and just plain silly, this personality shines through particularly when she deals with her patients considering they themselves are all children. However, with her eccentric style tastes, one would think she might scare children, but surprisingly they seem drawn to her. The parents of course are appalled that the woman is employed in a hospital, let alone in the children’s area.
•OCD PERFECTIONIST
The woman is a horrid perfectionist. It really goes hand-in-hand with her lesser known OCDness about how things are organized, cleaned, etc. Ariadne is a girl who likes to see a job well done and will potentially have fits if something she is working with frustrates her of if something is moved out of place after she has gotten it arranged and organized so perfectly. Don't even bother trying to touch, move, or even think about moving her things or follow behind her and re-organize. She'd know in a instant that anything had been touched or moved since she arranges things in a specific way, almost down to a scientific degree. She is constantly arranging things and while friends and family seem to find it funny she is rather undeterred in her attempts for perfection...in her mind anyways.
•SHORT TEMPERED
Often times she is normally the one to avoid conflict preferring to pretend like nothing is happening unless it's something that really catches her attention and when it comes she does have a bit of a temper, and a short one at that. It doesn't take too much to piss her off. She tends to become rather shaky and enraged, sometimes allowing her emotions to run around unchecked. She knows how to push people's buttons and in such situations and she will cross the line more than once if enraged enough without regard to who she hurts or how. Needless to say, she's made her enemies, though she usually doesn't ever bother with them unless they bother with her first.
•GRUDGE MASTER
When it comes to holding grudges, Ariadne is a horrible at it. A person could piss her off over something so trivial that any normal person would forget it immediately, but not Ariadne. She is amazing at holding people to such things even if they don't remember it and will hate them unconditionally for weeks if she feels like it. Sometimes she will start talking about it out of the will probably say that it's annoying and they will say they ignore her but they really can't when she will talk about blue, and while it annoys some people, she really couldn't give a damn. In her point of view, she was wronged and may ignore any form of apology just because she feels like she deserves to be upset and have the spotlight fall on her. If a person can tame her rage and rants, then that person is a rare one indeed.
•SARCASTIC
Ariadne is what most people would call 'sarcastic'. Or perhaps that' putting it mildly. With past experiences racked up on her charge, she has some wit and experience below her belt and she's not afraid to use it. Sometimes she may just be joking and other times she's probably saying it as a 'no shit Sherlock' motif, but either way, when you hear her speak, more often than not, it's in a bluntly sarcastic way.
•OPINIONATED
The blonde is a very opinionated girl with a point of view. It is characterized by most to be one of her worst traits because there is not much of a way to prove her that she may be wrong. She often tends to be correct about a lot of subjects and ideas which makes it rather difficult for her to accept when she isn't; she's stubborn and headstrong and doesn't like admitting that she may be wrong or at fault. Attempting to convince her otherwise, the situation could end in one of two ways; you'll end up giving into her oh so convincing argument, or lack thereof and if that doesn't happen, she'll probably end up talking you ear off until you're so pissed that you just end walking away, which she'll most likely take as you forfeiting the argument and agreeing with her.

BEST MEMORY
If she were to recall a fondest memory, it would probably have to be sitting with her mother on her big wooden porch swing that hung from a huge apple tree in their back yard in America. In the evenings they would sit and swing, and she would identify birds by their calls and they would watch lightning bugs flicker. Spurred on by her mother, she would eventually run into the house and grab a jar with a cheesecloth cover and a small mesh net and then spend the next hour or so catching fireflies which her mother would let loose once the small blonde had exhausted herself so much that she fell asleep in the swing marveling at their glow.
WORST MEMORY
The day the cruel world descended down upon her and berated and treated her like scum because of her family name. Her name and family had always been a source of pride to her, but when her name, coupled with the middle school teacher's exaggerated sarcastic and condescending pronunciation of her name collided, it produced a deadly venom among the student body. She had never felt such an overwhelming sense of shame, fear and embarrassment all rolled into one; yet she simply couldn't understand why people would judge so quickly and in such a condescending manner. In all manner of truths, it made her sick to her stomach and she will never forget how cruel and heartless people can be.
History;
Memphis Laroque and Elaina Stone had the not-so-fairytale love story, or rather, love tragedy. Memphis and Elaina, still in their senior year of high school, met in the fall of 1973 in Greece. When they met in high school, the only thing most of Elaina's friends remember was that it was like a scene right out of a movie. They were in love and opposites, they say, attract. Though, given enough time, opposites will repel each other in the end. Well, for the time being, attract they did and they were soon the hot topic of the little high school they attended; especially when the entire school found out Elaina was pregnant.
It was around the middle of the school year when Elaina found out and telling her parents had been a nightmare enough, though she knew they'd stand by her and still love her. But what about Memphis? How was he going to react? Well, his reaction was nothing short of shocked but he took the noble route and swore to take care of her and the baby, though his disposition towards Elaina became very cold and slightly condescending. However, many people remember her reaction to his behavior as one simple phrase, 'WHAT! Like I climbed on top of myself and got myself pregnant?? Jackass.'
The next nine months of Elaina's life she spent it all in high school. It soon took its toll on her and she ended up in the hospital a few times due to diabetes and stress. No more school food the doctor said. Elaina refused to pull out, she swore to herself that she could do it, be pregnant and attend school. It was difficult at times, but it did come with some perks. Could they be considered perks? For a pregnant teen in high school, sure they could; the freedom to run the bathroom whenever she wanted or needed to as fast as her pregnant basketball sized belly and short legs would allow was pure freeing bliss.
Eventually it came to pass that it was time to give birth to her twin children; yes that’s correct, twins. As the bell rang, Elaina felt a popping in her lower stomach and had no idea what it was and shrugged it off until she realized, her water had just broken. As several guys screamed and a few girls climbed onto desks in a silly manner the teacher called for an ambulance and the teen was rushed to a hospital with the father in tow. Twelve frenzied hours of labor later and Ariadne was soon passed to a grateful mother who thought the little blonde was the only occupant of her womb. Nope, SURPRISE! As contractions suddenly started once more a little boy with a crop of bright red hair, resembling his father was born several minutes later, though the child was pronounced as a stillborn; the cord had wrapped too tightly around his neck causing the suffocation. Had this not happened, Ariadne would have had a twin brother, and he would certainly have been welcomed in her world, especially when events would take a turn for the weird and worse.
With the birth of their child, Ariadne’s parents decided two things, that they would get married and that they would both go back to school full time in order to provide a good life for their daughter. The marriage was purely out of tradition as not too much extreme love existed anymore, more reminiscent of a dying fire. The need for school, well, it was needed to secure a future. Over the course of the next few years, while her parents were in school, Ariadne spent a lot of her toddler years running around her mother’s parent’s farm. The animals fascinated her and she spent as much time as she could with the wooly sheep or riding the horses they had.
Around the time Ariadne could attend school was about the time her mother graduated from college with a teaching degree. Starting kindergarten with you teacher as your mother was just the coolest thing for little Ariadne. How many kids are allowed to call their teachers mom and give them big sloppy kisses? During naptime Elaina would sometimes snooze with Ariadne while the teacher’s aide watched over the rest of the kids. When it was time for Ariadne to move to the first grade, needless to say, there was some separation anxiety. She had been with her mother for much longer than most children her age so it was only to be expected. Eventually Elaina managed to convince her daughter to go to class, assuring the teacher that she’d check in when her students were at lunch.
Her childhood years continued to creep along at a relatively simple pace and it was shortly before her tenth birthday that her life began to spiral out of control. Announcing that they were getting a divorce, Ariadne was heartbroken but managed to cover up her hurt with the sarcastic (and what she thought was hurtful) remark of ”Well, isn’t this just the greatest birthday present ever”. After so many years of being married out of tradition, the two had finally decided to call it quits, though Memphis’s motives were really pushed forward by the affair and the ‘love’ he had found in a woman named Issa.
When the day of court finally reared its ugly head, Ariadne and her mother sat on one side of the room while her father sat on the other. Being practiced in law, and being the shrewd man he was, he knew exactly how to sway the judge to award sole custody of Ariadne to him, as well as all the things they owned. Elaina was left with, more or less, nothing except the clothes on her back and her meager possessions. As her mother had to explain to her what was going to happen Ariadne realized in that moment how much she resented her father for taking her away from the one person who meant more to her in the world than any other. She could have thrown fit, broken things or clung to her mother, but she decided against it, knowing that she could subtly attack her father well enough. Making a gigantic scene would certainly not win her any wars.
Over the next few years, she fought her father on everything, trying to do so in a subtle or secretive manner. As he wasn’t a foolish or dumb man, he knew that she was attacking him and he knew the reasoning behind it. He was relentless and bent on playing her game and fighting with her; succeeding only in spurring her on towards more devious and sinister ideas at revenge. She knew, deep in her mind, that the only reason he had wanted custody of her was to scorn her mother. It was after a particularly nasty fight, just after her fifteenth birthday that Memphis finally gave up. Ariadne had finally become too much for him to handle and he was tired of it. Tired of the fighting, tired of the lies, tired of the slights towards his girlfriend (which admittedly, were all pretty truthful) but most of all he was tired of her constant hatred towards him. He had tried and failed for five years to keep Ariadne, but she and her unconquerable spirit had won. She was going home.
Her reunion with her mother was an exceptionally joyous one. Never had the two women been as happy as they were that day. It was a decision by her mother, which Ariadne agreed to, that they move to the Americas. Their only thinking on this was “The farther we’re away from your father, the better.”
With their arrival to America, the two women didn’t know a lick of English, only Greek. As new comers to the US, they found a friendly family that allowed them to live with them and teach them English and in exchange they both put their organizational and cooking skills to use for the hospitable family. When they felt their time with the family was over, they thanked the family and moved on. With Elaina still passionate about teaching, she got a job at the elementary private school and she continues to teach kindergarten students.
After graduating high school, Ariadne quickly found herself in college studying pre-medical, having no clue at the time that she wanted to be a pediatrician; merely that she thought she ought to study in the medical field. It was during her junior year of medical school that she settled on pediatrician as her career and it was all due to a small child she had run into and known from birth to her third year of life before the small child was killed in a medical accident. Her first thought was to swear off medicine altogether, even skipping classes out of her anger and grief, but she quickly decided that perhaps she could prevent those things from happening to other children and parents and so, with a love for children and their wide eyed wonder Ariadne finished her schooling and majored in pediatrics, graduating within the top few students of her class.
Life took a turn when her mother died; her father has pretty much disappeared off the face of the planet. While she misses her mother, there is plenty to keep her busy and not brooding on the passing of her closest relative; since she joined the Princeton Plainsboro Teaching hospital. Working under Doctor House has been a trying experience, but she does respect him for his intellect even if he tends to disregard her own. Still, stupid jokes emulating from House about her ethnicity and often times about the food she eats, she's just mentally begging for the day she transfers to England to arrive sooner.
Family Relationships;
MOTHER:: Ariadne was always very close with her mother and would spent her time, especially in her mother’s later years, with her parental figure. The loss hit her hard, so she filled her time with working overtime at the hospital and is usually forced home by some of the higher up doctors. At some point she’ll grieve properly, but she just ‘doesn’t have the time right now’.
FATHER:: Ariadne could care less about the man. True he is her father but in her mind, he is dead and simply does not exist.
Your RP;
{{From an old Stardust RP}}
It wasn't unusual. It wasn't strange. It wasn't even remotely out of the ordinary. Fights involving entrance into the palace were common place to many people. Though to one such being it seemed that it wasn't even common, it was something new and exciting in her world. The boisterous noise round the palace entrance had captivated Julianna causing her curiosity to get the better of her; normally she would have tried to block the noise out and tried to continue her work, which happened to be a rather a lot of dusting. Spring, she thought, was rather a hazardous time for her poor nose; the small feature had yet to stop sneezing for the day.
Absently waving her duster, she stared at a rather strange figure fighting single-handedly with the numerous guards posted around the palace entrance. A glimmer of long blonde hair had caught her attention further causing the vague attention paid to the large vase she was dusting to become fully absent while she leaned back to stare at the doors. It was rather unbecoming, this small figure waving a duster rather absently, leaning back and her mouth hanging open in surprise. How silly it would be if she were spotted. Shaking her head as she came back to reality, the small brunette force her mind to focus on the large vase. With her lips pursed and eyes narrowed, the brunette walked round the vase dusting every square inch of the great porcelain.
Finally deeming the vase perfectly dusted and cleaned, her intention was to cross the vast stone room and clean the matching vase. But it seemed that her intention was to be placed on the back burner for a time. Without really realizing what she was doing, her feet seemed to move of their own accord from her intended destination towards the riotous row at the front of the palace. Reaching the bundle of people, the feather duster held close to her chest protectively, Julianna tried to peer between the heavily armored guards to see who or what was causing the fight. It was all for naught when a guard noticed her presence and quickly spun around, glaring angrily at her.
Backpedaling quickly, her grip around the wooden handle of the duster became so tight that the skin of her fingers became a mottled combination of red and white. Staring ahead, she was frozen, unable to retreat any further. As he leaned in she could hear his heavy labored breathing, his anger almost seemed to radiate from him. She was unsure as to whether it was directed at her or if his anger was still embroiled in the fight behind him. She suspected it was both the fact that she had tried to poke her nose in and that instead of fighting with his comrades he was instead trying to ward off a nosy teen.
Words certainly weren't needed, and she doubted he could have spoken if he wanted to. As his heavily armored arm came towards her, Julianna tried to move but failed to do so before the guard's arm made contact with her stomach sending her flying a few feet back, landing on her bottom. Her grip on her duster was gone as she heard he wooden item clatter and bounce across the room but it was certainly the least of her worries. Planting one hand on the stone floor and the other clutching her stomach, the large male figure seemed to grapple with returning to the clatter of swords fight, or to pursue his current venue.
It was difficult for the brunette to move, but the guard seemed to abandon his advances towards her when the noise behind him suddenly dropped and a sarcastic female voice broke through the sudden pressing silence. Picking herself up, she ran over to grab her duster and quickly ran off as fast as she was able before the guard could decide that the prisoner was rather boring. Running in the direction towards her original intention of the porcelain vase, Julianna climbed behind it before she sunk to the ground and propped her legs up and laid her forehead against her knees. She was shaking rather badly and her breath came in shaky bursts. Picking her head up and resting it against the wall, Julianna watched the guards take the girl down a hall way that Julianna knew led to the dungeons.
Listening to the footsteps as they slowly disappeared, Julianna stared at a rather unattractive hangnail decorating her left thumb. Picking at it she realized that she was rather lucky, the guards were never known for giving up so quickly. Picking herself up slowly, the small brunette gasped as pain shot from her stomach causing her to cling to the wall for support. Breathing quickly, Julianna forced herself to walk, taking slow mincing steps towards a room she knew was usually abandoned. Pushing the door open, a sudden hissing noise was heard as air filled the room, massive amounts of dust flying suddenly around the room. Going into a sneezing fit, Julianna cried through it as the pain intensified with each contraction of her stomach muscles.
Shuffling to a corner of the room, Julie looked around peering through the haze to see that she was int he file room. Her memory only served to tell her that it was rarely used save when people were born, died, or were arrested. Cringing slightly, Julie unbuttoned the front of her uniform to reveal her underclothes. Pushing her undershirt up over her stomach, Julianna nearly cried out in shock when she saw the inflicted damage, a large purple and blue bruise extended across and up from the middle of her stomach to her ribs. Touching the skin lightly, Julianna's filled with tears as the pain once more ravaged her middle. Breathing quickly, the teen let her clothes drop and closed her eyes trying to stave off the pain. She needed to see the physician, but the girl could barely move.
How long she sat there, she couldn't determine. An hour perhaps more and while her mind tried to focus on ignoring the pain, another sound broke through her thoughts. Peeking through one eye, she caught sight of a blonde head. As far as she knew a princess wouldn't be in here, the room was dreadfully boring. It had to be who they had captured this morning. Of course, Julianna thought that she must have escaped, the guards were rather brutish but they weren't very vigilant or even competent of anything other than violence. Shifting in her seat, any shame she might have had at being so exposed was thrown to the wind as pain lanced her side, her voice cracked and broke through the silence, "What are you doing here?"
