Most would see Nikole as simply a pretty girl, very few think her to be ugly or even average. Actually, she looks a bit young for her age, more in her late teens. She's still far from glamorous, though. Standing at five feet and five inches she's only at average height for girls. Thin she is, but not as thin as most girls would like to be, and she has a modest chest and curves. Every now and then she may appear malnourished from, quite simply, not eating, but most of the time her weight appears healthy enough. Still she has a fine build and fairly pale skin with faded freckles on her cheeks, shoulders, and arms.
Now she does have a very pretty face. Almost heart-shaped, she has a strong bone structure with a straight jaw, high, modest cheek bones, and deep set eyes. Her nose is short, taking a "buttonish" look to it. Under thin brows she has bright blue eyes, wide and almond shaped and rimmed with thin, dark lashes. Her brow is neither too wide nor to long and she has slender, rosy cheeks. A majority of the time her hair hangs by her face, framing her features and giving her a more attractive, younger look. Nik has light brown hair, medium length. The locks fall just past her shoulder blades in very soft waves. Most of the time her hair is a mess, left uncombed and sometimes, when she's not watched carefully, even unwashed.
Nikole will wear just about any style of clothing. Actually, she does like to doll up and look pretty. She might wear something more retro, which seems to be her favorite. Or something more glamorous. Then she might wear tomboy clothing, then gothic, then hippie. Every now and then she can be seen in something more casual, but chances are she's dressed up.
* beneath the surface !
Where to start with Nik? Well, being someone with an extreme Bipolar Disorder she's unpredictable. One moment she'll be as calm as a summer breeze, the next she may randomly scream at someone for the smallest thing or kiss someone for the simplest compliment. She's a hard person to be around, that's for sure, and Nik doesn't seem to take kindly to people. Most of the time she's quiet, though observant, always watching people. Usually she's fidgetty, rubbing her fingers together, wiggling, nibbling at the end of her hair, twisting her shirt around her fingers, whatever she can do to keep moving. Also she won't talk much, unless she has something to say, so carrying on a conversation isn't easy.
With people she trusts she's often pretty different. Nik smiles a lot, then and has fewer manic episodes. She really doesn't like being alone, so when she is she'll become more and more nervous. Usually she surrounds herself with animals - cats and dogs, mostly, even though she has little money to support them. In the hospital she has lots of stuffed animals - teddy bears, plushie cats, etc. But no dolls. Nik hates dolls. She especially loves her brother and always lights up when she sees him.
Strangers are a different story. Nik often knows right away if she'll like the person or not. If she doesn't respond well to someone she just shuts down, refusing to look or speak to the person, unless they are able to lure her out or someone else can.
Medication helps, of course, the main one she takes is Lithium. Aside from her quiet demeanor and occasional childish responses (such as pouting) she can carry on normal conversations and interactions. Nikole doesn't like medication, though, and she doesn't like people worrying about her. She always wants to do things on her own, without help, and if she fails then she always wants to try again. Determined and headstrong, once her mind is made up it's hard to change.
One thing to note is her addiction to chocolate. Yes, chocolate. Nikole has to have her chocolate, and it has to be the good kind. No sugar free or fat free crap. Sometimes she'll bake her own chocolate; it's a very soothing activity that keeps her calm. The addiction is real, to the caffeine obviously, but just it must be satisfied with chocolate. No coffee or anything. Chocolate. If she goes without it then she will suffer from real withdrawal symptoms, which don't go well with someone with such an extreme Bipolar Disorder. Of course, the actual caffeine doesn't help, either, but it's better than the alternative.
Nikole is pretty artistic, too. She sketches all the time and she'll only sketch what she sees. It's often pretty good, almost like a black and white photograph. Sometimes she'll fingerpaint as well, though that is often times more abstract and messy. Nik is very curious, as well, and when she's curious about something or someone then she has to find out. Despite her condition she's pretty good at reading people and finding out about them. This is both good and bad, though, especially with someone as unstable as she is. Luckily enough she's pretty forgetful, most of the time, but other times she can remember every single detail of something. Of course there has to be a sort of "trigger," something she can relate to.

* now here's my story !
Nikole's childhood started out happily enough. She was born into a middle-class family and her parents were both loving and good. She had a brother, nine years her elder, named James, although she always called him Jamie. Her childhood was very normal, even though her mother suffered from Bipolar I Disorder. This was what dedicated James to becoming a doctor. Luckily it was a very mild case and so there weren't any bad episodes. Her mother loved animals and often times adopted cats and dogs from the Humane Society.[/u] - Mark Jacob Ross- dead
Nik had just turned five when her parents were killed. They had all gone out to eat that night and stopped at a gas station to fill up. Both Nik and Jamie wanted a candy bar from inside, so the family went in. Unfortunately that was when two men with bandannas covering their nose and mouth walked in. Instantly they had everyone at gunpoint, demanding all the money. When one man had his back turned her father jumped him, yelling at their mother to run and call the police. She pushed the siblings down an aisle, though the second man shot her in the back.
Meanwhile their father wrestled with the first man, though was eventually over powered and also shot, along with the cashier who made an attempt to escape. The robbers took what they can and ran. Nik and James kept together, hidden behind an aisle. After a few minutes James got up, holding his sister's hand, and managed to dial 911 as he had always been taught to do.
Almost instantly the siblings were placed in Child Services, answering police questions. Well, James did at least but Nik had not spoken a word since the incident. With no living or qualified relatives, the siblings were placed in foster care.
Not even a year later both were adopted by the same couple. Nikole was still very quiet, she mostly ever spoke to James, and she was a bit of an angry child. After a year, though, both slowly returned to normal and life went on. Nikole made a friend while living with her foster, a boy about the same age she was. Most of her time was spent with him, as the two became extremely close, especially after her brother graduated college and moved out.
Yet when she turned ten she began to show symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. James, in medical school at that point, urged their foster parents to send her to a doctor to be treated. However, the parents thought he was over reacting and that Nik was just going through a "phaze" so let her be. Over the years it became worse, though, especially when she would have angry episodes, which would include screaming at someone over the smallest incident, throwing things, hitting someone, threatening to hurt herself, cutting, even picking fights. She lost touch with just about everyone, including her best friend. James moved back as soon as he heard.
By then Nikole was sixteen and James was twenty-five, going through his last year of Medical School. With a court order he was granted custody of Nikole. For the next few years he tried to find a good place to work, but then he heard about Dr. House and his trainees. Applying, he placed Nikole into care at the hospital, where she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder NOS (not otherwise specified), and a severe case at that.

* one last step !
There was rarely a time when Alex was able to have a moment to herself. Survival Island was endless amusement, but it was extremely high maintence. One minute she was searching through files, always up-to-date with her hunters and other potential others, next she was feeding bodies to some sharks, then she could be shaking off some clueless detective. Alex had to admit, the hunts made it all worth it.
Her last hunt had been a bit messier than she hoped. The woman preferred clean killings, but misfortune seemed to strike. The man had moved too fast and her poisonous arrow simply nicked his leg. Alex knew he was going to attack, so she switched her crossbow with her gun. Not her favorite weapon of choice, it was load, especially being a Desert Eagle, and bullets were a precious thing to her. None-the-less, she was just about to fire when she man grabbed her arm. The struggle was violent and quick, but Alex managed to shoot him in the side of his head.
After some shark-feeding she returned to Predator Isle, half bloody and her mood foul. The two hours it took for her to get all the dirt and blood from her body, hair, and clothes didn't help her mood. Still she decided to doll up a bit, somehow that made her feel better. She wore a white, long-sleeved dress which fell just short of her knees and had a black wide V collar. Around her mid section was a thick black belt, hooked in the back. To match her little dress she wore a black headband and a pair of black stilleto high-heel pump. Of course, the primping process took another hour, but she felt better.
Finally she had nothing to do. After all, it wasn't like she was going to be able to go to a party or go shopping. Survival Island was tremendously fun, but there were some disadvantages. Alex found herself wandering the mansion, torn between making herself a gourme meal or reading a book and listening to music. She chose the later, but then found the room she picked to be occupied. At first she was simply going to leave, but she heard the young man speak up.
“Hehe. Daddy was always funny…” Interest piqued, she stepped into the room. Grant, there weren't many sane people in this place, if there were any, but she couldn't help but be a bit curious. She came up next to the chair he sat in, blue gray gaze lingering on the picture.
"Mine wasn't." She said simply, almost apathetically. It disturbed her a bit that she didn't know who he was, but then again she rarely ever met the hunter's face to face. She did recognize the picture, though, and she was sure she had picked the corpse. The pieces fell into place rather quickly, it was fairly obvious. "He didn't have much of a sense of humor at all, sadly." Her gaze drifted back to the young man, more a boy still it seemed, as she spoke, remaining apathetic.
